This, too, will pass

It was actually worse, back in 1968.  Back then, it wasn’t a transient from Houston that was killed, but Martin Luther King Jr.  We didn’t have Black Lives Matter.  We had the Black Liberation Army.  They didn’t want to disband the police.  They wanted to “off” them.  35 police officers were killed by the Black Panthers.  Here’s a list of who they were.

The following year President Richard Nixon was inaugurated, and began the process of “Vietnamification”, his word for withdrawal from the futile war in Vietnam.

And a man named Armstrong walked upon the moon.

You can’t handle the truth

Tucker Carlson of Fox News is a truth teller.  That makes a lot of people uncomfortable, and he’s losing advertisers as a result.  CBS News reports that T-Mobile and Papa John’s pizza have cut ties with Tucker, because, in my opinion, they’re cowards.  We have a lot of cowards in this country.

Speaking of cowards, Carlson reported yesterday that Republican senators voted for Elizabeth Warren’s motion in committee to require the pentagon to rename bases which are named for confederate generals.  No more Fort Bragg, home of the 82nd Airborne.  Maybe they can name it Fort Nancy, in honor of the speaker.

Back when I had a radio show I found out that Levi’s had adopted a policy of discriminating against the Boy Scouts.  Back then, gays couldn’t be scoutmasters, and Levi’s was taking a stand for the gay community.  I urged my listeners, frequently, never to buy a Levi’s product.  To this day, I have never purchased a Levi’s item, of any kind.

As of today, I sure as hell will never switch to T-Mobile, and Papa John’s can take their pizza and shove it.

A thoughtful essay and race and the police

John McWhorter is very bright guy, who has written an essay on police violence that’s the best I’ve seen: Here’s the link.

He’s an African-American, by the way, but that’s completely irrelevant.

Defund the police, and life is nasty brutish and short

In a state of nature, it’s all against all, bloody in tooth and claw.  Governments are formed to protect their citizens from foreign threats, and from each other.  When governments fail in this duty, people resort to self-help, also known as vigilantism.  It’s no way for a civilized people to live.

We’ve seen it already, in New York City, with Italian-Americans, and in Chicago, with Latino Americans.  Defund the police and you’ll see it in Minneapolis, or wherever it’s tried.  People will defend their property, and their families, with force if necessary.

The American people are well armed, and many are proficient in the use of firearms.  We have a 2nd Amendment to the Constitution to provide our citizens with the means of self-defense.  And defend themselves they will.  Defund the police and people will take things in their own hands.

It’s astonishing to see what one would think are halfway intelligent people spout this nonsense.  They apparently have not thought of the real world consequences.  Or maybe they have, or one of them , at least.

I’m talking about George Soros, a sick and twisted man, the dedicated opponent of all American institutions,.  He is sometimes misidentified as a Jew.  He’s no more of a Jew than Benedict Arnold was an American.  As a young man in Hungary under German occupation in World War II, he collaborated with the Nazis, and betrayed his own people, to save his own skin.  Perhaps it’s a sense of self-loathing that leads him to hate our country, which liberated Europe, and saved the Jews who had survived.

But getting inside the head of George Soros would require the skills of a trained psychiatrist, and I’m not one of those. I just know it’s a dark and evil place.  He has no recognizable political philosophy.  It’s tempting to call him a nihilist, but that’s not quite accurate, since he does have one core belief:  hatred of the United States, and all it stands for.

To a man like George Soros, defund the police sounds like a great idea.  And his money is certainly behind much of the recent civil unrest in this country.  Here’s some evidence of his ties to Antifa.  I expect the Department of Justice is gathering more.  George Soros needs to face justice for his crimes against this country.

In the part of the country I live, rather than defund the police, we support our local sheriff.  And there are a lot of us.  Every time some Democrat talks about defunding the police, Trump’s chances of reelection go up a notch.
