Very good news

I read in the WaPo that Cruz is organizing at the state convention level.  This is critical, and could very well affect the outcome.  I don’t think the Moron’s inner circle understand this stuff.  Few people do, and it’s encouraging to see that the Cruz team does.

Up until now, I’ve pooh poohed a contested Convention.  But this is a very different year.  If all goes according to plan, I’ll be there with Babbie.

That would be fun.

Apology due

Republican Party Chair Peter Goldman told me this morning that the three  Alaska delegates Rubio had won were being taken away from him because he had quit his campaign.  But he did not quit, so those delegates still belonged to him.  I couldn’t understand what was going on.  Why would anyone do something so stupid?

So I got all riled up and started trying to raise hell in the Party, and then I called Vice Chairman Frank McQueary, an old friend.  Rubio was losing his three delegates not because he had quit, but because a recount resulted in him falling below the 13% threshold needed to have any delegates at all.

Peter Goldman is the only retired Lieutenant Colonel I know of who is both Jewish and a Mormon.  Perhaps that’s why we had trouble communicating.  I understand he’s not a bad guy.

What impressed me about the Cruz campaign is the venue they chose to deliver the federal lands issue in Idaho — Couer d’Alene.  Surrounded, virtually, by the Idaho Panhandle National Forests.  I knew right then and there that they’d thought the whole thing through.  They got it.

There are a number of such venues available around Flagstaff.  Arizona is beautiful country.  Actually, in every state in the Far West they’re available, even in California.  Where I live, next to the Stanislaus National Forest, we all hate the Forest Service.

And outside Phoenix, Arizona is part of the Far West.  I’ll bet they’d love this message in Prescott.

Full spring now, wildflowers on the way.

Raising Arizona

Last week’s Merrill Poll, the most recent, has Trump 31, Cruz 19, Rubio 10, Kasich 10, Undecided 30.  They’ve already started voting in AZ, so some of those Rubio votes are gone.  There may be some Rubio voters who prefer Trump to Cruz, but there can’t be that many.  If he’s smart, Kasich will stay out of AZ.  He has no chance there, so he should focus on places like Pennsylvania, where he might have some hope.  Kasich supporters will be able to figure out that in AZ, it’s either Trump or Cruz.

Trump’s threat of violence if he’s denied the nomination should be the last straw.  This is beyond the pale, and calls for a quick, unanimous condemnation from everybody.  I can’t see threats of riots in the streets as a way to  bring aboard Undecideds.

And then there’s the federal lands issue.  Prescott is surrounded by federal land, as is Flagstaff.  A lot of AZ land is in Indian Reservations, where it will remain, as will places like the Grand Canyon.  But there’s a huge amount of land to the north and east of Phoenix that is controlled by the heavy hand of Washington.  The message Cruz took to Couer d’Alene, and won with, works in AZ too.

And there are a lot of Mormons in AZ, as there are in Idaho, where Cruz crushed the Moron, 45-28.  He’ll win Utah by a bigger margin, and all Mormons look to Utah for leadership.  These people communicate with each other.

It’s doable, and if Cruz takes Arizona he still has a path to 1237, and Trump clearly won’t.  All hands on deck.

The west is the best

The farther west you go, the weaker Trump gets.  He lost Minnesota to Rubio.  He lost Iowa to Cruz, and beat him by a whisker in Missouri.  Every western state, has, or will, reject him.  From North Dakota south to Texas, and all points west, he won’t win one state.

That includes Washington, Oregon, and California.  They’re a lot different than the true Far West, but they are sufficiently similar  to prevent a loud mouthed Manhattan pretend tough guy from winning any of them.

When I see video of Trump and Christie together, strutting around like they’re complete bad asses, it completely turns me off.  They have no appeal, they repel.  It’s their attitude.  This East Coast tough guy image does not work in the West.

The West will deny Trump the nomination.  Watch Utah and Arizona next Tuesday.  They will be a sign of what awaits the Moron west of the Mississippi.

He’s going to get his butt kicked.

Confirmation

I just looked at the futures market at Yahoo Finance.  The S&P, Dow, and NASDAQ moved in unison.  At 9:00 Eastern they turned from negative to positive.  I wonder why.

I don’t have all my money on the table.  There’s no rush.  When Reagan’s tax policy took full effect, in 1982, it was the start of the greatest bull market in American history.  The market is finally catching on.  It’s Cruz, and that’s a very good thing.

Babbie made some crack about how, before I died,  I needed to get the money back that I lost when I wasn’t paying attention.  I think I see a path.

Son Brendan is with me for a couple days, while Babbie takes a break.  He understands everything, and is almost as fired up as I am.

The best news is I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to talk Babbie into going to Cleveland for the Convention.  I sprang it on her tonight, when Brendan was with us.  At first, she said no way.  Cleveland, in July?   But I think I can get her to come around.  I explained to her that as delegate I had no power, and no duties.  I won’t have to do a damn thing in Cleveland, except attend some California delegation meetings.

We’re going to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
